The 2002 Lou McElroy Race
Every year the Greater North Carolina Concourse hosts the "Lou McElroy Futurity". This is a tough head wind race flown north from Georgia. And this year was no exception. The handlers for this race are some of North Carolina's best and all the birds were in top condition.
The race festivities started with basketing and an old fashioned "Pig Picking" hosted by Ben and Janice Pleseant. The pig was the main attraction and was cooked to perfection by Bud Pualk.

The Pig
Around a hundred birds went to the race with 29 clocking on the day. True to this race the birds had head winds and only the best birds made it on the day.
